Fundraising Campaign for Victims of Behsood Incident

On the 29th of January, 2021, eleven civilians were killed and twenty-seven more were injured during a demonstration that turned violent in Behsood district in Maidan Wardak province in Afghanistan.
In response to the incident, World Baba Mazari Charity conducted a fundraising campaign to collect donations for the victims. A total amount of 42,640.00 AUD (forty-two thousand and six hundred and forty dollars) was mainly raised during two events on the 4th and 7th of February, 2021.
World Baba Mazari Charity’s representative in Afghanistan distributed the fund among the families of the martyred individuals as well as to the injured. Each family of the martyred individuals (eleven families in total) received 140,000.00 AFN (one hundred and forty thousand Afghanis).
The injured were classified, based on the severity of their injuries, into three categories of A, B, and C, and received 10,000.00 to 40,000.00 AFN (ten to forty thousand Afghanis) accordingly. The donations were distributed in the presence of the community leaders, religious figures, community influencers, and the public in general.
