Fundraising campaign for victims of Sayed Shuhada School

On the 8th of May, 2021, a car bombing, followed by two more improvised explosive device (IED) blasts occurred in front of Sayed Shuhada school in Dasht-e Barchi in Kabul, Afghanistan. The three explosions left 85 people dead and 147 injured, most of whom were school girls aged between 11 and 18.

In response to the incident, World Baba Mazari Charity started a campaign and raised a total amount of 107,564.60 AUD (one hundred and seven thousand and five hundred and sixty-four dollars and sixty cents).

The fund distributed in three phases. In the first phase, a total amount of 20,000.00 AUD (twenty thousand dollars) was allocated for the injured. The fund was immediately transferred to Kabul to support the injured to pay for their treatment. According to the severity of their injury, the injured were categorized in three categories of A, B, C and received 5,000.00 AFN (five thousand Afghanis), 10,000.00 AFN (ten thousand Afghanis), or 15,000.00 AFN (fifteen thousand Afghanis). A total number of 135 (one hundred and thirty-five) injured individuals benefited from the fund.

In the second phase, a total amount of 65,000.00 AUD (sixty-five thousand dollars) was allocated to the families of the martyred. A number of 70 (seventy) families were identified and each received 50,000.00 AFN (fifty thousand Afghanis).

Furthermore, a total amount of 186,000.00 AFN (one hundred and eighty-six thousand Afghanis) was allocated to purchase medicine for those who were impacted psychologically.

In the third phase, the remaining fund 22,564.60 (twenty-two thousand and five hundred and sixty-four dollars and sixty cents) is being distributed among 40 (forty) of the families who need more support. Each family is receiving 5,000.00 AFN (five thousand Afghanis) for six months.
